MOVEO IMPULS: RESIDENCY PROGRAMME 2010
To all lovers and professionals of physical theatre and the arts of movement, we are proud to present MOVEO IMPULS, a project carried out with the support of Barcelona´s Institute of Culture (ICUB).
MOVEO IMPULS is a series of activities designed to open a space of exchange and communication between physical theatre artists, offering a support to this theatre genre, a place to share experiences with professionals of this field and of other disciplines, to make the investigation and rehearsals of companies and artists possible, to stimulate creation by young people.
Residency Program LAB:
Call for Applications!!
Do you have an idea for a show that has been going around in your head? Do you need a space to try out your intuition, to experiment, to draw the first outlines? Our Residency Program LAB provides you with the opportunity to do so in our space.
Our Residency Program LAB aims at opening a space for investigation and experimentation at the beginning of the creative process.
Many residency programs are suited for the final stages of the creation process of a show. This often means that, having had no space for trying out first ideas and intuitions, the artist is forced to "invent" a show without any space for experimentation. For an artform like physical theatre where the majority of works are creations and where the basic means of expression is the actor’s body and movement, it is essential to include a first stage of improvisation and research to allow for richer work.
Deadline for the presentation of projects: 1st of September 2010.

Five women transfer the human need of expressing , denouncing, having a personal voice to the stage; they portray the difficulty in making this happen, for external or interior reasons, and the repressed shout that nobody dares to to listen to, and its hidden opposite: the freedom, the fantasy, the strength.

MOV’EM – Moveo Multidisciplinary encounters
The performing body: Pilates and Physical Theatre
15, 16 and 17 of September 2010
Open to anyone interested in these two disciplines and their dialogue possibilities, the workshop will explore technical and artistic aspects of the movement of a performer and will propose tools to help and support a more expressive movement on stage.
The Pilates technique has had a long standing reputation with in the performing arts both as injury prevention and performance enhancement. The workshop participants will benefit from this technique to reach a more controlled and evocative movement and for the interpretation of more complex scenes.
Three days for a total of 12 hours, with three teachers who will stimulate a way of thinking and acting with the body.
The part of the workshop related to physical theatre will be given by Sophie Kasser and Valentina Temussi, members of the Moveo team. Monica Giacomin will bring her knowledge and experience of the Pilates technique.
Monica Giacomin trained as a Pilates Teacher at the Laban Centre (London) and her background is in the field of performance (spanning from Physical Theatre, through Corporeal Mime to Contemporary Dance).
She has specialized in working with dancers and performers. Her interest is in exploring the multilayered dimension of the human body moving, from its natural aspects into movement with an aesthetic purpose. Alongside her teaching practice she continues to explore the creativity process of dance-theatre making.
